Let the Craziness begin!

Somehow no matter how hard we try to simplify our celebrations in December it ends up being a crazy month with lots going on.  Between church and school we have obligations all the time.  This week we have something every evening except for Monday.  Next week looks a bit better with only one evening obligation on the calendar so far.  Hopefully we are just getting everything out of the way this first week in the month.  I think all the craziness of the month is what makes January and February seem so depressing...nothing happens in those months (unless you are our family with all our birthdays in Feb).

What are you doing to bring the true meaning of Christmas to the spotlight?

Hopefully we can somehow muster up just keeping the house clean. That always brings a good spirit. We made a list of the things we would like to do this month...........game night, go see a movie, temple square, gingerbread houses with grandma, etc. etc. Having a lot of family time to look forward to makes it wonderful!

Every night right before bedtime we turn the tree lights on and the regular lights off and sing Christmas songs.

Jana- I like that idea...it might just work for us too. I'll run it by Jason and see what he thinks.

I try to finish shopping in October so that in December I can just focus on enjoying the holiday. We read a Christmas story each evening (only this year I can't find my books...). I also always liked that my parents had us say a family prayer prior to opening any presents. Another favorite is delivering anonymous goodies.
