Cookies

We didn’t make too many treats over the Christmas break.  We were attempting to help Daddy out in his quest to be healthy.  We did have a few weak moments though where I just couldn’t stand it any longer and wanted to just bake something already!  I tried to only do it when we had somewhere to take the treats so that they didn’t sit at our house tempting him.  We took these to Christmas Eve celebrations at my in laws

We used some of the white chocolate chips that I won from prudence pennywise to make these beauties.  I’m usually a chocolate girl all the way, but these cookies were delicious.  I used this recipe and the only thing I changed was I added some orange zest because everyone knows that white chocolate, orange, and cranberries are a  heavenly combination.  I think they turned out spectacular.  I’m no food blogger, but here are a few pictures.  Excuse my well-used cookie sheets.  Smile  P1000030The dough after we’d baked a batch or two already.  P1000032Love my cookie scoop—so much less messy than any other method.

P1000036I’m not really a fan of crunchy cookies and for some reason the bottoms always get done faster than the tops (I think it’s my old temperamental oven but it could be my old pans too) so I always under bake them so they stay soft and chewy.

These were GOOD and that’s coming from a devoted chocolate lover.  I saved some and took them to my aunt since she can’t eat chocolate (poor dear).  I haven’t heard how she liked them, but I hope she did!

What did you make that was new this holiday season?

Thanks for sharing! They look so yummy! We are going to have to try those really soon! To bad it is 9:30 at night, I would be rushing out to get stuff and make them tonight!

Those look really good. I didn't really make anything new this year. Just the old standby's, but I made way too much of all of them. I think we all gained 10 pounds.

Sarah

MMMmmmm, looks good! I think I may try these.

Hope you don't mind me blog hopping, I am one of Angela Burrows' nurses, and I was reading some of the blogs listed on their blog list.

I have enjoyed your Grateful Sunday entries. That a great idea!

Jen

Mindi- hope you guys like them when you get the chance to try them out.

Alice-I miss making tons of treats, but admittedly I know it is better for us this way. I'm trying to find other traditions to replace all the treats.

Sarah-feel free to blog hop all you want! Thanks for commenting. I got the grateful Sunday idea from a friend of mine from High school. It has been great for me to focus on blessings.

New to me or new to holiday baking? Nothing new to me, but we did give away coconut macaroons and I hear they traveled well. That's always good news.
I always make caramels. And Aaron didn't get his peanut brittle (stove was acting wonky and cooking sugar on a wonky stove = not good idea) so I think he'll get it for his birthday in March.
