I am in love!

As I was going through my google reader one of the blogs I like Trainer Momma was having a giveaway to Crate and Barrel.  I like a good giveaway as much as the next gal so I clicked through to sign myself up.  Little did I know I was going to fall in love with just that one little click.  On her post for the giveaway Mandy had this picture:  5491752219_fa16b9aa63which I shamelessly stole since I couldn’t find the same one on the Crate and Barrel website to save my life.  Hopefully she doesn’t mind...  I am in love with the artwork—well..to be honest I’m in love with the whole thing--the chairs, the buffet (I only know what it’s called ‘cause I found it on the website too), but mostly the artwork.  I found it on the crate and barrel website and was sad (but not surprised) to see that they are totally out of my price range!  So is everything else in the picture for that matter.  Ugh!  It makes me wanna try to make some kind of knock off of it, but I’m admittedly NOT the most creative person…this is one case where I totally wish I was.

What do you do when you find something you love that you just can’t afford?

You wing it, my friend! You can come up with something like that, I just know it! (o:

The Everyday Housewife

Just saw that same artwork last night. I LOOOVE it and so want it for a wall in my house. Same thing. Can't afford it. I was thinking about getting some material in similar patterns/colors and putting it in matted black frames. I still think it would end up being kind of pricey. Ikea has some great prices on frames though. If I figure it out, I'll let you know!

Jen

Vanessa--I got the same material idea from a friend. I also wondered about either scrapbook paper or wallpaper samples since I've seen a lot of that kind of wallpaper lately--although I have no idea where to find wallpaper samples. Maybe we should team up on this one to figure it out?? ;)

I try to recreate it as best as I can! I once found an abstract painting at Pier 1 that I absolutely loved except that it was $250 smackeroos..So I went to michael's, bought some paint and some canvas and made my own version of it..not perfect but no bad either! We had it up on our living room wall for about 4 years! I bet you could easily recreate this frames, with either fabric, wallpaper or scrapbook paper!

Hey sis, dont know if this will help you at all, but I looked up the name of the artwork on google to see if it was anywhere else for a lower price, found it for about half on this site: http://www.fulcrumgallery.com/ProductList.aspx?setpid=592216

Also found them on Amazon for about 30.00:

I know it's still a lot for all of them, but maybe a little more attainable.

For furniture I will try to find a piece someone is getting ride of or something from DI and then sand and paint. I really need an entryway buffet, well I need any kind of furniture in the front room, but I think you can recreate this with some old wings chairs you can cover with that color fabric. An old 50's buffet and the fabric or paper in frames everyone else said. Good Luck

Hey Jen. So cute. Just go pick out cute fabric you like and frame it. Maybe I'll have to try that myself.

John

funny. I should have read your other comments first. I thought the same. Wallpaper or fabric and Ikea frames. Funny. Good luck. Share with us if you do it!!!

It looks like something Wendy could create.
