Reunion Part 1

My family hasn’t had a reunion in awhile.  Before my Mom died we had a reunion planned.  There was nothing that my Mom loved more than to have all her family together in one place.  We had to cancel the one we had planned last year because we had a mini reunion at her funeral instead.  We rescheduled at the beginning of this year in hopes that it would give everyone sufficient time to organize everything they needed to make the trip happen.  Unfortunately, not everyone was able to make it.  My brothers Tom and Michael and their families were sorely missed!  We packed a lot of fun into the four days we were together though and despite the stress and exhaustion I’d do it all again in a heartbeat! I want to be sure to record what we did so I don’t forget!

Thursday night everyone arrived in Utah.  Dad stayed with Jim and Kathi and Carolyn stayed at my house.  Emily made a cake to celebrate Kathi’s birthday and we all had a midnight snack of cake and ice cream.  IMG_2859IMG_2860It was delicious!

Friday we spent all morning packing up the food and everything else we had to take up to the house we rented for the weekend.  We got up to the house, unpacked, got everyone ready to take family pictures, had pictures taken, ate a late dinner because it took way longer to cook than we thought it would.

Saturday morning we loaded up and headed to Deer creek reservoir for boating, jet skiing, and sand playing fun! The young kids had a blast playing on the beach when they weren’t on the boat with only a few flying rock injuries.

I only got pictures of the people that were on the boat at the same time as I was. I got off and on the boat a few times, but was never on with Jim or any of his family.  Liam loved tubing.  The last ride on the boat I was on with Andrew and Albert (who somehow got no pictures taken of him!) and they were so mean to each other when they were tubing they both went FLYING off the tube.  After that they wanted me to get on the tube!  I was super worried they would do that to me, but they were nice to me.  Actually they were being so careful to start me off that they sunk the tube instead of keeping it afloat! The same thing happened to Liam when they started him so at least we could commiserate with each other.

I forgot how much fun tubing is!  I had never been on a jet ski before though and that was even more fun than I thought it would be!  We all had a blast (at least as far as anyone told me) and I’m so glad we were able to have fun together as a family like that.  I wish we could have gotten a picture of all of us together at the reservoir, but we weren’t really ever all in one place.  Unfortunately not everyone remembered to put on sunscreen so we had a few VERY burnt faces and shoulders the rest of the weekend.  It didn’t stop the kids from having fun though. They never stopped all weekend it felt like.  If they weren’t outside on the swing set they were playing football, or volleyball, or ping pong, or watching a movie in the theater room, or playing tag, or whatever else they found to do together.  I’m hoping they will all remember it for a long time!

This is getting really long so I’m going to split it up into part one and two. Part two will be coming soon!
