Finally! A new floor

We have needed to replace our tile floor for quite awhile now. Not too long after we bought our house we noticed some problems with the grout of our tile. We didn't think too much of it, but little did we know that it would be a much more widespread problem in the end. Eventually tiles cracked and popped up and we have pretty much been living with this problem for several years now. It's one of those things about our house that we hated, but either didn't have the money to fix or just didn't have the time to figure out what to do about it. I know you all have something like that---something you are dying to change, but just haven't been able to do it yet.

Well...once Liam started crawling it was just the kick in the pants that I needed to get off my behind and decide what I wanted to replace it with and just get it done. I wish we could have done it before Liam's sealing so my family could have seen it, but there just wasn't time. It has always been an overwhelming thing for me to think about having to re-do all this flooring because it is in the majority of our living space upstairs. Being my father's daughter I was trying to figure out how we could do it ourselves so that we could save money. Well...in the end my common sense won out and I decided to pay someone to do it all so that it could be done quickly (in 2 days!) and I wouldn't have to worry about anything except picking out what I wanted. So...here are some before and after pictures.

doesn't look too bad from a distance

This is what you see in several places if you look close up.

This is when they had it partially torn out. (boy did it make a mess!) I had dust ALL OVER my whole upstairs! It was a job to clean up after

This is when the new wood floor was partially laid--do you like the fridge in the living room?

Here is the finished floor with the baseboards back on and everything! ( I did take off the baseboards and put them back on myself) It's interesting to look at the floor in different lighting. Most of the time it has this reddish/cherry look to it, but in certain lighting it looks a lot more brown. It's like chameleon flooring! lol So, there's my new pretty floor! Have a great day!
