Rock show, bath fun, and crawling position

Friday I helped take Jason's webelos group to the Rock and Gem show here in town. My kids have loved going to this thing for years now. It's kinda like a craft show except everything is rocks, minerals, and gems. Why do they love looking at a bunch of rocks so much?? Beats me, but hey, it's free to get in so why not? I think what kills me the most is that my kids insist on bringing money to buy rocks with...I REALLY don't get that--spending good money to buy rocks that you could just go up the canyon and find them yourself for free, but hey, it's their money right? So, we came home with more rocks for their collections and we had a good time. The picture to the left is something that I haven't seen before when we've gone, but this guys has these big dinosaur skeletons that he wears and they are kind of like a puppet. So, he'd walk around with the "puppet" and pretend to eat the kids--all of the kids loved it, but he was pretty quick so I never got a good shot of him eating either of MY kids. This is one of the three dinos we saw while we were there.

Liam is really loving his baths now that he has room to move around. He loves to splash and he loves to chew on his washrag. I swear he's teething, but I've been saying that for months now and no teeth are to be seen. I even bought him a teething toy (which Em enjoys calling his "chew toy" because I don't like it since it sounds like a dog toy). He doesn't really like to use his teether, he'd rather chomp on the hard part of his pacifier or his blanket or burp rag or whatever other cloth is close by that he can stick in his mouth.

To my chagrin Liam is VERY close to learning to crawl. He doesn't actually crawl yet, but he gets into crawling position like this often. Instead of going hand, hand, knee, knee he'll get up on his toes and then sort of lunge forward. Or else he'll do sort of a one armed crawl or an army crawl, or pull himself along, or he'll roll. With all of these movement skills who need crawling? He can still get to anything he wants to in a pretty short amount of time. I'd love it if it took him awhile to actually crawl because somehow once they are mobile they seem so much more grown up, but who am I kidding? I'd better get baby proofing!!

Have a great day!
