We had most of our Easter fun on Saturday since Daddy wouldn’t be home much on Sunday. We went to West Valley to Aunt Lynn’s house then to Golden Corral for lunch. After lunch we made some rice crispy treat eggs. Jason Jr had seen them on TV—they were hollow, except to make them hollow was really hard because it was so sticky. We did 6 hollow ones and then gave up and just made the rest of them egg shaped. It was still fun. I asked Jason to take pictures for me since I was busy helping. He took some interesting ones. Jason getting the plastic eggs cleaned and ready so we can use them as molds.
Making the rice crispy treats
I only like them if they are soft and chewy, not hard and crunchy—I think that may have been part of the problem when we were trying to shape them.
Nice close up of my behind—apparently Jason felt this was important to record for posterity—I told you he took some interesting pics-including one of my feet???
Trying to shape the eggs it was hard because they were SOOO sticky!
I made Jason Jr help since it was his idea
Here are the non-hollow ones we made then the plastic eggs in the background are filled with hollow eggs with candy inside the rice crispy part. It was fun to try.
After the treats were done we got the egg hunt ready. We hid eggs outside and inside. While we were getting the kids a couple boys walked past and stole the candy out of a couple eggs…oh well. hunting
hunting
the spoils—Liam was very particular about which eggs he would pick up for some reason.
Shayla showing me her big egg.
We had to dump them all out to count them and make sure we had them all.
Then we distributed them more equally afterwards.
The cousins.
When we got home we decided we’d better dye some eggs. Liam LOVED it and we even managed to avoid any giant dye messes.
Some of the handywork
When we were done I told them to get by the eggs so I could take a picture—Jason took me literally I guess.
And a cute one of the finished product—we actually dyed enough to fill both cartons, but some had already been eaten by this time and others broke and weren’t deemed picture worthy.
This is the Bunny cake Em made to take to Easter Dinner on Sunday at Jason’s parents’ house. I also made these but forgot to take pictures. Then I dipped strawberries in the extra chocolate from dipping the truffle eggs. It was ALL delicious and a great addition to the rest of the amazing dinner we had there.
That was our fun Easter…what did you do for Easter?
