Piano

Emily has been taking piano for awhile now.  She’s really starting to get the to point where she could really excel if she put her mind to it and put in the time to practice.  A few weeks ago she performed at “Festival” it’s basically where you go and play two pieces that are memorized for three judges and they give you a score and pointers on how to improve too.  photoThis year she played the best she’s ever played and I was so proud of her I totally teared up!  Before we left she told me that this year was the first year that if she did really well then there was a possibility that she could go on to perform again and compete to earn a prize.  This week she got her performance sheets back and she got a star on them that means that she does get to go and compete for prizes.  She’s really excited (she should be) and so am I.  Her teacher has actually told us that she’s ready to move to a better teacher, but Emily loves her teacher and doesn’t want to move.  I think I’m going to talk to her teacher though and get some recommendations for teachers she could move to and continue improving her piano playing.  I have always wished I had been able to continue my own piano lessons for longer so I could have become a skilled piano player instead of the sort of player that I am now.

Stick with it Emily! I took piano for 8 years, but never really applied myself. I could kick myself now. I wish I had listened to my mom!
