I was writing all of the kids activities on the calendar this morning and I realized that the vacation part of our Summer break doesn't seem to be happening. Other than no school all of their other activities are still going and it doesn't feel much like vacation. Add to it that I"m already having to listen to "I'm bored" several times a day when the kids have been out of school for one whole week and boy it's not feeling like any kind of "vacation" to me. :)
It's not that we aren't doing anything. We've been to the park, played with friends, gone swimming, read books, gone biking, watched ball games, etc. We are busy. We also have lots of plans. I'm going to try to run a 5 K on Independence Day--I'm just hoping I'm not the last one to finish. My parents are coming for a week before that and then we are going to WA to visit them a couple weeks later. The kids want to go to Lagoon and 7 peaks and play with friends as much as possible. I'm just hoping we can all stay happy all summer long.
What are you doing to keep your kids happy and yourself sane this summer?

There's always the old tactic of an automatic "contribution" (chore) when the words "I'm bored" are uttered within your earshot!
We'll never know what summer vacation is like. We don't get out until a few days before July. Augh!
Sounds like you're doing a great job! We've been doing a lot of park and backyard sprinklers, and a few "stay-up-all-night" parties.
and all the regular stuff...
That's awesome you're doing a 5K. I'm trying to just go walking every day and failing at even that much.
