Our Halloween seemed pretty disjointed this year for some reason. I think Em and Jason are just getting old enough that they are doing their own thing so it just doesn’t seem the same. I didn’t even get pictures of those two in their costumes. I may still have them put them back on for a token picture, but so far they aren’t too thrilled about the idea.
Jason was out of town on business all week in Anaheim of all places too…poor baby. We were freezing here while he got to bask in the sun and even took a day to go to Disneyland while he was there. Don’t worry he brought us all souvenirs to make up for going without us. ;)
Before I realized Jason would be out of town all week I asked the kids if they would like to have a few friends over to celebrate Halloween and because they had no school on Friday that week it turned out ok. They each invited three friends and then we had two extras because some cousins came along for the fun too. They all seemed to have had a blast, but it was pretty loud having that many kids. Em and Jason helped choose the menu. They had mummy dogs, bloody worm burgers (or slug burgers, you choose), 7 layer dip, apples and caramel dip, grapes, and root beer floats. It was all a hit, but I couldn’t stand looking at the worm burgers let alone eating them. All of our ideas for the fun food came from Here all their recipes are really good and they had great ideas for Halloween. Those bloody worm burgers or slug burgers or whatever you wanna call them look so disgusting! I had to throw out all the leftovers because I couldn’t stand looking at them in the fridge.
That was supposed to look like a spider web…not so great, but the kids demolished it in a flash and no one seemed to mind that it wasn’t perfect.
Liam after trick or treating. We got caught in a downpour while waiting at the famous house in town that gives out a dozen krispy kreme donuts to each kid. It’s every kid’s dream! After that we went to trunk or treat and Liam was totally done. He didn’t last long at all and I’m sure it’s ‘cause he was wet and cold. Funny thing is that the week before and now the week after Halloween have been gorgeous weather. That’s just how things go sometimes I guess.
This is Em with the friends she went trick or treating with. You can’t really see her costume, but she’s a snow fairy. She made wings with hangers, knee highs, and glitter glue. Then she put some snow flake decorations we have for Christmas in her hair and on her wings too. It was the thing she liked the best out of all the ideas we came up with. Go figure. I’m glad that girls all had fun.
Jason (no picture) was a rock climber and he went out with some friends too, but they got back before us so I couldn’t get a picture of him.
All in all I think Halloween was a hit. How did yours go?
