Grateful Sunday

Today I’m grateful for the young women in my ward and for their willingness to be vulnerable.  One of my Mia Maids taught our lesson in class today and she was so real --not afraid to share her struggles with the class as she taught.  It was amazing to me.  Maybe I’m projecting my own feelings onto others, but I feel like as adults we feel this need to appear “perfect” especially in church and when we are teaching lessons.  I have to consciously make myself be more “real” because I naturally want others to think the best of me, but I think it compounds the insecurities that we all have when we aren’t honest about our lives and I think it is a tremendous help to others who are struggling (don’t we all struggle?) to know they aren’t alone.  Now, I don’t think we need to be confessing in front of an audience or anything, but I do wish we could all be more honest about our daily struggles and I love that Kathrina was able to do that for our class today.  It made a huge difference in the willingness of the girls in our class to share their own insecurities right then.  I loved seeing them share and support one another.  It was awesome.  I wish it happened more often so we could all grow and learn from one another.

What do you think?  Should we keep up our Sunday façade or should we allow ourselves to be more vulnerable?
