Grandparents visit part I

Last week my parents and my baby brother came for a visit.  It was great to have them here and even better we are going to be visiting them in just a couple weeks!  (if you live close we want to see you while we are there so email me)  We had a fun week with them.

Monday we went shopping and then rested and then Jason and Grandpa went to an Owlz game.  I neglected to send a camera with them so there are no pictures of the fun they had, but Jason came home with a new Owlz hat and two plastic bowl/hats from ice cream eaten at the game so I venture to guess they had a good time.  Jason is hoping to catch a ball game in WA while we visit too.

Tuesday we went swimming.  It was great fun.  My mom got one video of Liam (that actually looks kinda old the way the lighting was) before the lifeguard told her she couldn't take pictures at the pool--I thought that was strange.  Anyway...so no pictures of that either.

Wednesday we had a lazy morning and Liam had fun playing with everyone.  IMG_3544 He especially liked shoulder rides from Grandpa.  Later in the afternoon we headed up the canyon to go hiking.  I haven't been great at searching out and discovering all the awesome hikes and other outdoor activities nearby so my Dad searched the internet to find us an easy hike close by.  We drove to Maple lake and started out just walking around the lake.  IMG_3548 - Copy IMG_3551 Jason and Mike tried their hand at catching minnows (unsuccessfully) IMG_3558 Then when their feet were freezing they got out and skipped rocks.  Em and I can't really do it, but the boys are all pretty good.  I got some cool photos of the skipping, but I won't bore you with them.  By this time we were all hot so the boys decided to take a swim.  Em tried her balance skills.  IMG_3574 IMG_3586 Somehow Jason got Mike to give him a ride on his back.  We had been there around an hour when we decided to try to find the trail head to hike to Red lake.  It was a fairly easy trail for the most part.  The hardest part was the rocky terrain...I was wishing for hiking boots instead of my tennis shoes.  But it was fun.  I was in the back so this was the view I had pretty much the whole time.IMG_3587 IMG_3588 IMG_3590 Em kept wanting to turn back, but we pressed on!  The funniest part was that on the way back she was the fastest one.  I sent Mike to go with her since I didn't want her to be alone.  She fell right before the end of the trail so she didn't want a picture, but she was a good photographer to take our after hike picture.  IMG_3592 It was a beautiful place and a great way to spend the afternoon with my Dad and brother.  Thanks Mom for staying home with Liam!  Hope you had fun too!

Stay tuned for the second half of our week together...
