A few weeks ago Jason got a phone call telling him he won an award for a paper that he wrote several years ago. It turned out that the professor he wrote it with had submitted it to a conference or something like that and they sent him a check. It wasn't tons of money or anything, but it was a little something unexpected so we decided to go up to Park City to have fun as a family with it. We headed up Saturday morning to go on the Alpine slide. Em decided she was too nervous to do them so Jason Jr and I headed up to go down. Here we are on the chair lift. Jason was trying to get pictures of us coming down the slide at the same time Em was jumping on their trampoline thing
so the pictures of us are really far away (I totally need more zoom!)...Jason Jr. was bummed because the guy in front of him was going SO SLOW! He was supposedly racing the girl on my track, but I passed him up. Because you can't get too close to the person in front of you Jason had to slow down too...I'm glad I wasn't on his track. I would totally love to do that again...it was a blast.
Once we finished at the Park city Mtn resort we headed to the Olympic park. We had a few minutes before the aerial show so we checked out the museum part of the park. The kids are in a bobsled here. And Jason tried out the luge...I think that thing would scare me a little...
I took tons of pictures of the aerial show, but I think they'd be hard to see on here. If you ever get a chance to see it do it! It's pretty cool. The team is made of lots of people from all over that have been or are hoping to go to the Olympics. It's really cool. After the show we headed down to the zip line. The kids had gotten a thing for a free ride on the zip line when they went on a field trip so we used those. We could only fit two of us on a chairlift so that's Jason up in front of us.
Here's Em...she was a bit nervous being so high up. I took a pic of the two of us, but you'll have to imagine that since I have an awesome triple chin in the picture and don't want it on here. ;)
Here's Jason waiting to go. He jumped right up and got strapped in, but then he got nervous to actually go. He did it though and loved it. He said it was a lot slower than he thought it would be. As soon as we got off the chair lift Emily got scared and didn't want to go. I tried in vain to convince her, but she went back down on the chair lift
Here she is getting off at the bottom (I think that would have scared me more than the zip line). So, no pictures of me. Jason went up to use Em's ticket for another ride he loved it so much.
We were hoping to go ride the Heber creeper, but this all took too long so we headed to our hotel for some swimming. Liam totally LOVED the pool and was completely fearless jumping in to me and going under the water and loving every minute of it.
We noticed that there were a lot of statues of Moose in Park City. We saw three or four and I know there are more we didn't see. This one was near our hotel so we took a picture. It was a great day! The twins swam more after dinner and we just relaxed. The next day we slept in, got some Einstein's bagels, packed up and headed home. On the way home we stopped at the Heber Cemetery where Jason's grandpa is buried. There are tons of McDonald's in that cemetery and the kids kept asking if they were related to us. Jason's answer was...probably somehow. We had lunch at Granny's and then headed home to get things ready for my parents and brother to come for a visit. It was a great little getaway.

That zipline looked like a blast! I think it would have taken me a long time to work up the nerve too. What a fun break for you guys.
How fun! That is great that you unexpectedly got to get away! It looks like it was a check well spent!
I've been wanting to go to that aerial show, and after reading your description, I think I'll plan it. I didn't realize there was an Olympic museum as well. What a great daytrip!
