This past weekend is the first of several very busy weekends we have coming up. Jason decided to take me to dinner for my birthday on Thursday night because we couldn’t do it on Friday or Saturday. It was fine with me. We stuck close to home and went to the Trolley.
Friday was my birthday and I got lots of messages on facebook, texts and a phone call to wish me a happy day. It was nice. Jason brought home a gag gift for me (a Jonas brothers calendar)and then told me I could replace my busted camera for my birthday (hooray!). I got a cute workout shirt from my Heather, Jarom and family, some money from my in-laws, and a book from my parents. It was a good day. I didn’t have to cook either. ;)
The twins had their birthday parties on Friday too. Em had her friends over right after school. They made cupcakes (she wanted to do it that way instead of me making a cake). Then they did “makeovers” opened presents and played some games until it was time to go. I have to admit I’m liking these older kid parties where they just do whatever they want to and I don't have to stress and plan with a theme etc. It’s a lot easier for me. This is a picture post makeover. I guess Em had made some categories and they drew them out of a hat. There was a BYU fan, actress, teenager, and normal if I remember right. It’s fun to see their perceptions of what each of those categories would be. Em’s friends included Emma, Ashton, and Sarah.
Jason had his friends over for a late night and besides taking a break to eat ice cream (he didn’t want any cake) and open presents (money was the gift of choice) they played video games all night and had a blast doing it. See what I mean about easy?? But they didn’t want their picture taken and Jason and I were watching a movie upstairs so I don’t even have a picture of the boys. He had Carter, Tyler, and Charles over.
Friday night we also realized that our dishwasher was broken and would have to be replaced. It’s the same one that was here when we moved in 9 years ago and I bet it was several years old at that time so it had a good long life. :)
Saturday we hurried to call around about dishwashers to see what the timeframe would be to get one put in. I didn’t appreciate this genius of an invention until it was gone and I wanted it replaced ASAP! Most places couldn’t get it in for several days and as long as a week so we called up our trusty plumber friend and he thought he could probably do it the same day if we could purchase one so that was our plan. Of course the one we wanted wasn’t in at the store that morning, but they got it there by Sat. evening so by bed time we had a new dishwasher. Every time we open it Liam says, “it’s cool”. It’s kinda funny.
Saturday along with all of our other normal stuff I went and bought a camera and tried to go buy the fabric I really like for pillows in the front room, but they were out :( My brother and his family came down from Ogden and we spent the night keeping the kids out of the way of the dishwasher installation. :)
Sunday we went to church and after church Jason was ordained as a Deacon. I was so happy my brother could come and participate with us since he’s the only one from my family that was able to make it. Jason was also lucky to have his Grandpa McDonald, uncles Mike and Jarom participate along with Bishop Geslison. We were happy that Melanie, Andy, and Grandma were there to support him too. This is a picutre of the McDonald side with Jason
This is the Stevens side with all of us.
And finally a picture of our little family too. It was a great day. Em got to go to Young Women’s class for the first time too and she felt welcome (she was a bit worried about that) and both of them are excited to go to Mutual tonight for the first time.
