HELP!

Okay readers…(yes all three of you).  I need some help.  My awesome husband has been doing really great at eating well and losing weight.  I am trying to help him out by having healthy dinners.  As in something that uses whole grains, lean meats, and lots of veggies (but no squash!)  He is really good to eat anything that I make, but I’m getting tired of the few recipes we have and the kids only marginally tolerate.  I want us all to eat healthier so…do you have any great recipes that are healthy or would convert easily to healthy?  Do you know of any great healthy recipe blogs that have family friendly food (meaning stuff kids will eat and not complain about).  I’m not about to start making everyone different meals…I have a hard enough time planning one meal.  So, I hope you can help me out!  Thanks in advance!

I'll send you some documents I have with Weight Watcher recipes so you can see if any of those will work.

Am I one of the three?

For me, I'm hoping that my kids grow out of their picky stage. As for you, I'd suggest shapemag.com and a subscription to cooking light magazine - I get it and there are tons of fabulous recipes. You can do a search for anything on their website too, but the magazine, with the big glossy pictures, really inspires me. shapemag.com is the website for shape magazine (duh, I know), but there are lots of great recipes on there as well.
Good luck!

I feel your pain. The last few weeks we have been way more relaxed (only until school starts again though) but we were working really hard and finding dinners the kids would like was difficult. Here are a few things that worked for us:

pleasers for everyone:
hamburgers (7% fat meat)
on orowheat sandwich thins (100% whole wheat, 100 calories per bun)
served with salad and sweet potato fries

grilled chicken (we love Lawry's Mesquite Lime Marinade and don't use a lot)
black beans (my kids love these so if they aren't too excited about the rest of the meal they will scarf these and what's easier than warming up a can of black beans?)
salad
tomatoes cut in half topped with a bit of s&p and mozarella cheese and then broiled for about 8 minutes
fresh fruit

Homemade pasta sauce with plenty of veggies and either chicken or 7% hamburger.
served with regular spaghetti noodles for my kids and either spaghetti squash or whole wheat noodles for Jason and I.

I love baked salmon. When I make it I do make two dinners because my kids don't like it and it is not cheap. But baked salmon is so easy and then I make them something equally simple like mac n cheese or frozen burritos (I know, really healthy...). The frozen salmon filets at Sam's Club have no additives which is great, most have a lot of added oil.

The big thing for us has been finding a way to make the protein part of the meal pleasing for everyone and then offering several fruit and veggie sides to please everyone (black beans included) and then usually one healthy grain.

I find the more fresh produce I serve (sliced cucumbers, fresh green beans served lots of different ways, sliced fruit etc) the less complaints I get.

If you find some great recipes share them, I could use all the help I can get! Good luck.

Jen, I just found these two sites that seem to have some good ideas:
