a weekend with your husband in Park city with NO children??
Blissful, serene, calm, lovely, sweet, amazing…I could go on.
True to my recent track record of taking pictures for my blog I have a grand total of SIX pictures from this past weekend. Guess how many have either me or Jason in them?? Did you guess yet?
NONE! Sorry to disappoint. I will share a few of the pictures in this post though because a couple of them are pretty funny. I’m sure the last thing you want is a play by play, but that’s to bad. This is my blog and I’ll bore you if I want to! ;)
We left Friday night later than we wanted to because things just didn’t get done as quickly as I needed them to that day. We were starving by the time we dropped the kids off at Grandma’s house so we ate before we headed up the canyon. We went to the shops at Riverwoods (because it was close and remember we were starving!). We ate at La Jolla Groves—neither of us had ever heard of it, but it said it served fresh, local food so we thought we’d try it out. Well…it was really good and a really nice place so I was happy we tried it. After this we headed up the canyon to Park City. We got to our condo and checked in (basically we got our key code out of a safe on our own-we arrived at 8:00 pm and apparently that’s when their front desk closed so we were out of luck if we wanted any human interaction). It wasn’t a fancy place, but it was clean and roomy so we dropped off our stuff and headed to main street where we wandered aimlessly up and down the street looking in shop windows and going in when I insisted. We had some dessert—ice cream from a cute cow themed shop that I can’t remember the name of and that Jason has a picture of on his phone that I’ll have him send me Java Cow on main street It’s all cow themed right down to the ductwork and the vents that look like udders. It’s cute. Then we walked farther down the street and had second dessert at Rocky Mtn. Chocolate factory—that place is seriously dangerous. Their chocolate dipped cheesecake is really good in case you were wondering like I was before I tried it this weekend. I just remembered that we actually went first to Park city mtn resort so we could ride the alpine slide, but they were closed too—at 8:00 on a Friday night? Who would have guessed. Okay, so this is getting boring for me to even write so I think I may just hit the high points for you from here on out…your welcome.
Saturday I slept in and Jason didn’t. When I finally got my lazy bones out of bed and ready we headed to the Salt Lake Temple since I have never done a session there. I know, I’ve lived here for how long and I’ve never been there?? Crazy. After that we headed to lunch at Caputos—it was really good—I think I’m gonna have to send Jason to get some of their balsamic vinegar next time he’s in Salt Lake for work.
The rest of the day was spent shopping (to Jason’s dismay). First at the Gateway and then at the Park City outlets. I actually didn’t buy a whole lot, but it was nice to look around without kids and just enjoy not being in a hurry. Saturday we ate dinner at Main Street Pizza and Pasta (at least I think that’s the name). It was really good pizza. Then we were going to go to a free concert at The Canyons except we didn’t realize it started at 6 and it was almost 8:30 by the time we left so we watched a movie instead.
Sunday I slept in again…but not as late as I wanted. We relaxed and read all morning (I know, we are super exciting—reading) Then we headed home. It was a great weekend and I’m SO grateful to my Mother in law for being willing to take the kids. Thankfully Liam was well behaved and she survived ok.
Oh, I have to share a few pictures of our condo’s kitchen because it was straight out of the 70’s—right down to the lamp shade. It was like being in a time warp from when I was a kid growing up. Here you go.
Remember these lamp shades? They were everywhere when I was a kid.
This dishwasher and stove look exactly like one I had when I was a kid.
I was actually surprised that the microwave had buttons—going with the theme of the rest of the kitchen I thought it might have a dial like my grandma’s old one..you know where you have a dial that you turn and it cooked for that many minutes. At least everything was clean! Hope you had a good weekend too!
