Concert

Friday night there were two free concerts that sounded like fun to me.  They were totally different though.  One was the Five Browns at UVU and the other was Benton Paul in Provo.  First we tried UVU, but since we were running late, knew there were only a few open seats left, and then saw that everyone was super dressed up while we were in jeans we decided to head over to Provo to see Benton Paul.  We were early though so we tried out the famous pie shakes at Sammy’s.  Jason thought they were just ok and wouldn’t really want to go there again.  I thought they were good though.

At first I was worried it was going to be a bunch of young BYU students and we’d feel out of place, but there were lots of people with kids there so I felt a little better.  I was happy to run into and be able to talk to some friends from when we lived in Wymount Terrace—such a long time ago.  It was fun to catch up with them and find out about their family and what they’ve been doing the last 10 years.  (I was surprised to find out Jenny actually reads this blog too!)  Jenny has a blog too check it out here she’s real and funny and it’s fun to read her blog!

At some point Courtney of CJane fame walked by and I smiled at her and she said, “Thanks for coming!” and I just laughed nervously in return because that’s how cool  am (really, for some reason I went completely blank on how to respond) and then she was gone and the embarrassment set in of how dumb I must have seemed.

Since my husband was the sole photographer for us this is what we got IMG_0009 IMG_0011 IMG_0012 This is what you get when you try to take self-portraits with and iphone where you can see ahead of time how awful they are…I was totally laughing by the end which is the only reason there’s a semblance of a smile on Jason’s face.

We had to leave early because we’d left the big kids home and Jason didn’t want to leave them too late (translation: he didn’t like the concert that much and was finding any excuse to be able to leave) I was sad to leave because I liked Benton Paul’s style of music a lot more than Nik Day’s but I figured Jason had been a good sport to come at all so I let him off the hook.  It was fun to do something different than just get dinner and walk around the mall or the bookstore (yeah, we are those people).

What did you do this weekend?

Sounds like fun. I need to start planning more things like that to do with Kirk.

This weekend, we hung out with the extended family, cleaning my Grandma's property (she died 2 1/2 years ago) so that the kids can finally sell it.

It was a lot of work, but fun to hang out with family.

The Bartons

Well my coolness scale just sky rocketed!! I grew up with Benton Paul and went through school with him! sadly I have never seen him in concert, I'll have to go sometime.
