I've decided that 2 year-olds don't really understand birthdays and presents yet. Liam liked eating lots of sugary treats and he liked getting presents, but he wanted to immediately play with the gift he had just opened instead of seeing what else he got. It was pretty funny tonight at his family party at the park. I made the mistake of having him open the scooter from Grandma and Grandpa first so the only thing he was interested in was that scooter. I felt kinda bad for the other presents, but he really likes them...he just needs time to play between presents and that's just not how opening gifts usually goes. A few pictures of the celebration.
The wooden block train the twins got him from funfinity--I love that store. If you are looking for unique, nostalgic, or just plain cool gifts/toys/games go there or check them out online.
Jumping on his "trampoline". This was a last minute change to the gift we were going to get him, but I'm glad we did it because he LOVES it.
This is while we were singing to him. Right before we sang several people standing around happened to fold their arms for one reason or another so I think Liam thought we were going to pray or something. He stood with his arms folded while we sang. It was kinda funny. He liked his race track cake--and it was pretty easy. I got the idea on Familyfun.com so if you need an easy/cool cake idea check them out. Everyone also liked the filling I put in it. You can get that recipe here.
Andy helping him ride his new scooter.
Playing catch with his new mitt and ball. (I have to say that tiny baseball mitts are stinking adorable!!)
Showing Andy his throwing skills. He had a blast playing at the park with his cousins. Thanks everyone for coming to celebrate with us!

Happy Birthday Liam! What a cute cake! And it is funny that he wasn't interested in the other presents after the scooter. Sometimes I put the other opened presents aside for a few days. After the novelty of the big awesome one wears off, then it's like having another birthday.
Happy Birthday to Liam! I love the cake, very cute.
Thanks for your nice comments as I have been reentering the blogosphere, I really appreciate it.
I saw your Mormon Message a while back and loved it, I am guessing your husband did it? It was really great.
Wow! Time goes fast, doesn't it! I love your birthday cake--good job!
I love Family Fun magazine! That's where I got the idea for Baylie's Princess in the Pea cake.
