Premier

Last month I went to the premier of a movie with Jason at BYU.  A first for me for sure.  When I asked Jason what it was about he said, “I dunno, it’s a documentary—that’s all I know.”  I’ll be honest…I am not a huge watcher of documentary films…unless it’s about something that I’m already pretty interested in.  I have to say that I was happily surprised that the movie was totally engaging and fun to watch.  It was really great.  Want to know the best part?  You can see it too!  It will be airing on BYUTV on Sunday, April 3 right after the last session of conference so here in UT it will air at 4:00 pm.  You should totally watch it.  You will be inspired and see some AMAZING talents that you have never seen before!  Here’s a little trailer for you. 

Grateful Sunday

I’m grateful that my teenagers will still tell me they love me in front of their friends. 

I’m grateful that Spring is trying to come and we can get back outside soon. 

I’m grateful for people that are willing to teach me new things and the ability I have to learn new things—even if I may have to try REALLY hard. 

Tradition!

Both Emily and Jason participated in their school’s production of Fiddler on the Roof.  They did a great job.  It was hard to get many good pictures of Em on stage and Jason was busy running the spotlight so I only have a few pics. This is Em during the show.  She’s on the back row on the right side.This is Em after the show.  She wasn’t super thrilled about me taking pictures, but I made her anyway. 

Splint

Liam fell down a couple days ago and yesterday when he still wouldn’t walk on his leg I took him to the Dr.  We didn’t do an x-ray—YET.  But he does have to wear this splint for a week to see if it helps and if it doesn’t then we’ll have to do the X-ray.  Liam DID NOT like the splint at all and spent the whole ride home from the Dr. and the next hour after that crying because he wanted it off because it was too itchy.  This is a picture I took while he was melting down.  Hey, I had to do something to keep sane when he was throwing such a big fit.    Cross your fingers that this helps because I don’t think we will be able to last if he has to have an ACTUAL cast. 

A new ‘do

Emily has been wanting to cut her hair for awhile now.  She waited until after the school play so she could have a bun like she was supposed to for the play.  Yesterday we went to get it cut.  It was a crazy day and I didn’t get a before picture taken, but this picture will give you an idea of how long her hair was.

It’s a little bit longer in the back because it was layered more in the front.  Anyway….she went short!  We are going to donate her hair.  This is what the new hairdo looks like.she loves it and is having so much fun with surprising everyone with her new haircut.

It has been a little bit nicer here the past few days and I noticed a few of these: (tulips—don’t mind the weeds) peeking out at me from the yard both front and back.  I hope that means we will see real spring soon and not just the teasing of spring that then goes right back to winter.

Grateful Sunday

Today I’m grateful for the opportunity to listen to an Apostle of the Lord, L. Tom Perry at our Stake conference.  This is the second Apostle we have had the privilege to hear in our Stake in just a few months.  It’s always uplifting and it was so kind of him to take the time to shake everyone’s hand that wanted to.  What a blessing. 

Water

Liam has a fascination with water.  He takes any chance he can to turn it on, dump it out, pour it from one thing to another and anything else he can think to do with it.  We were going stir crazy a few weeks ago and he just didn’t want to do anything.  I decided to take a chance and give him a bunch of bowls, cups, and spoons and fill a couple with water and just let him have at it.  He had a blast and it was only minimally messy (I put a towel under it all to keep it from spilling all over my wood floor.  It will be even better when it warms up and he can do it outside.  (he’s already asking when he can go swim in his pool outside)  So, if you are needing something for your toddler to do try this out.  You might be surprised how long it keeps them entertained.

I am in love!

As I was going through my google reader one of the blogs I like Trainer Momma was having a giveaway to Crate and Barrel.  I like a good giveaway as much as the next gal so I clicked through to sign myself up.  Little did I know I was going to fall in love with just that one little click.  On her post for the giveaway Mandy had this picture:  which I shamelessly stole since I couldn’t find the same one on the Crate and Barrel website to save my life.  Hopefully she doesn’t mind...  I am in love with the artwork—well..to be honest I’m in love with the whole thing--the chairs, the buffet (I only know what it’s called ‘cause I found it on the website too), but mostly the artwork.  I found it on the crate and barrel website and was sad (but not surprised) to see that they are totally out of my price range!  So is everything else in the picture for that matter.  Ugh!  It makes me wanna try to make some kind of knock off of it, but I’m admittedly NOT the most creative person…this is one case where I totally wish I was. 

What do you do when you find something you love that you just can’t afford? 

Celebration week

We had a week of lots of celebrating at our house in Feb.  It’s always fun and always tiring, but I love that we have so much to celebrate! 

We start off with Valentines and admittedly with all the other stuff going on in the week it is usually pretty low key.  This year we did a little party for our playgroup a few days before.  Then on Valentines I gave the kids each a heart shaped box of chocolates and I made “heart” pizza for our dinner. 

The next thing we celebrate is our Anniversary.  I was happy that Jason could take the day off this year and so we spent it together.  We went to the temple and did some family names and we went to Communal for lunch since I keep hearing about it all over the place.  It was really good.  Great blogger that I am I have NO pictures of anything from this day…I was too busy enjoying spending time with my awesome husband to worry about pictures. 

After the anniversary comes the twins’ birthday.  They each had parties on separate nights and they both had a blast.  I think I like these older kid parties because they planned everything (it was mostly just “hanging out” type stuff) and it was pretty low key.  Jason saved all his money from Christmas and everything else to pay for half of an ipod touch for his birthday (I wanted to KNOW that he was serious about it and would take care of it)Emily in typical teen girl fashion asked for shoes and clothes and a new bedspread.  They requested cheesecake instead of cake which I was happy to oblige them with since I can only handle so much cake. 

Our final celebration is my birthday.  Some of my friends planned a surprise dinner for me and even got Jason in on it to get me there.  We went to Chilis and there are pictures, just not on my camera so hopefully I’ll get them soon!  I have the best friends!

On my actual birthday Jason and I went out to eat and we pretty much just had a relaxed day as a family.  I think the best part was that they planned the weekly menu for me and did all the grocery shopping too.  I was VERY happy to have a break from those chores.  Jason surprised me with a cake he got at costco while he was there.  The kids insisted I have a candle to blow out, and Liam was so nice to me and blew it out for me.  It was a great birthday. 

That wraps up our celebration week.  Hope I didn’t forget anything important!
