Saturday with Aunt Lynn
On Saturday we went to Salt Lake to hang out with Aunt Lynn. It was fun for all. Lynn treated us all to lunch--Thanks Lynn! Then we went to the Gateway and let the kids run in the fountains. They had a blast, but got cold. Then we went to the conference center and had a tour. I've been there lots of times, but I don't think I've ever taken the tour. We got to go to the roof and that's the main reason the kids wanted to go on a tour because that's the only way you get to see the roof. After that we walked over to temple square to the visitors center and to see the beautiful flowers that are always on the grounds there. We saw the new family exhibit there and it was really cool so if you haven't seen it you should definitely go. Above are a few pictures of our adventures.
Easter Pictures!
This is the Easter bunny cake that Emily and Carolyn made on Sunday. Emily had a great time making it and frosting it and everything. She chose all of the colors and decorations even though she told me that the mouth I made didn't look right. :) We were using what we had on hand.
This is the kids during their egg hunt that we had to do inside because it was too wet outside. I asked them if they were too old for an egg hunt and they both shouted NO! So I did one for them anyway.

A post with pictures

So many things have been going on lately that I haven't really had time to write about all of them.
Jason and I had a great time on our Cruise at the beginning of March. It was so much fun and we got to see such beautiful places and it was so nice and warm compared to the cold Utah winter that I didn't really want to come home. Back to cooking, dishes, laundry and all the other responsibilities I got to pretty much forget about while we were gone. It was a great way to celebrate 10 years of marriage and the big 3-0 for me too.
Last weekend my brother, his wife and kids came to visit while they also dropped off my sister. :) It was great to see them, but was a quick trip for them. We don't usually get to see them for too long when they come, but I guess then we don't get tired of each other. We took the kids to the park and to the Bean museum and they all loved it. Jim taught Jason how to play tennis and now Jason wants to play all the time.

A big thank you!
I just wanted to post a thank you to my dh for being so awesome. I was freaking out a lot about my birthday this year because I turned 30. Well...he went out of his way to make it a great day for me. He brought me breakfast in bed (something he never does because he never did it as a kid)--that alone made my day. :) Then we hung out as a family, went to see a movie together, and went to dinner (and even got dessert!). It was great and I thank him from the bottom of my heart for helping me have a great day even though I didn't think I would.
I Love You Jason!!
PS thanks also to all my friends who remembered my b-day and called, emailed, etc.

Cakes!
This was Emily's cake for her fashion party. She loved it and was so proud that she helped me with decorating it.
Thanks to my sil who lent me her cool pan for making Jason's baseball cake. He wanted the laces to be red, but it's really hard to make frosting red so he had to settle for pink. He didn't seem to mind.

My babies are 9!!
Today my babies turned nine. I can't believe it! They are such great kids and I love them so much. I don't feel old enough to have 9 year old kids...they are such a blessing to me.
I am really glad to be done with all the parties etc though. Jason had a late night party last night (since not many people do sleepovers anymore, including us). He invited 6 boys and all but one came so it was a very energetic party. we played games, watched a movie, had cake etc. I made him a baseball cake. My sil has this cool pan that makes a ball shape and then I just frosted it white and put the lacings on with a decorating tip. I'll post pictures tomorrow.
Em's party was today and she wanted a fashion party. We made a craft, had a newspaper fashion show where they designed outfits out of newspaper and then walked the runway. We painted nails and they played whatever other games they all agreed on after we finished cake, presents etc and still had time left. It was a beautiful day here so they jump roped together, played tag, and hide and go seek all outside.
It's been an eventful day and I'll post pics asap.

A new belt
Jason tested for a new karate belt while his Dad was interviewing in Detroit. Dad was sorry he missed the test, but Jason did a great job and now he's a senior green belt with only 5 more belts to go until he's a black belt!
Pinewood derby
Jason did a great job on his pinewood derby car. He found a car that he liked and he, his Dad, and his Grandpa all helped him build it, but Jason did most of the work himself and he loved every minute of it!

Bearded Dad

As usual Jason didn't shave during his break from work over Christmas. I think this is the first year he didn't have to shave part way through for something or other and he actually got a pretty nice beard. We all think he looks great with a beard and if it wasn't so scratchy I wouldn't mind him having one all the time. :) The kids told him he looked funny after he shaved it off because they were so used to him having it and that was after only a couple weeks! Notice Emily's sign. She made that all on her own.

Emily
Melanie trying on the hat and scarf Emily worked hard to make her for Christmas.

Emily loves holding her baby cousin Easton. She wishes more of her baby cousins lived nearby so she could hold and play with them too.

Christmas morning

Here are a few pictures of our Christmas morning. It still amazes me that I work for months to get everything ready for Christmas and it's all over in less than an hour. I remember it taking much longer, but of course there were a lot more people in my family than we have in ours. :) The kids made quite a haul and were VERY happy and excited with everything they got. They are still trying to get around to playing with everything. We hope you had a wonderful day too!! Merry Christmas!!
Making Christmas cookies

We had tons of fun making Christmas cookies with our cousins. There's nothing like decorating cookies to get you into the Christmas spirit.

FALL LEAVES

We all had fun raking leaves and then playing in them today. It just wouldn't be fall without jumping into that big pile of leaves.

Happy Halloween!

The kids had a great halloween yesterday. We had a trunk or treat at the church and they got TONS of candy there. Then they went trick or treating with Grandpa like they do every year. They sure love that tradition that we inadvertently started. It's always so fun for them and they get a kick out of him dressing in the same "costume" each year. Hopefully we'll be able to live through the sugar high until the candy is gone.
He's a wolf now!

Jason earned his Wolf in cub scouts. He really likes scouts and is eager to keep working on earning more arrow points.
Thanks for stopping by!
We were so happy that Great Grandma and Grandpa could come see us on their way to Arizona for the winter. We were sorry it had to be such a quick visit, but it's always great to see our family.

Our new cousin

Emily and Jason had so much fun holding their new baby cousin. In these pictures he's less than a week old and he was such a good sport while they were holding him. They each had to have several turns and were so cute talking to him in their little baby voices and everything. It was so fun for me to see that! They still ask to hold him every time we are with his family. It's great to see them so excited about helping.
